Placed on IR with torn triceps
The 49ers placed Hargrave (triceps) on injured reserve Saturday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Hargrave partially tore his triceps during the 49ers' Week 3 loss to the Rams, and head coach Kyle Shanahan relayed Monday that the injury likely keep the veteran defensive tackle out for the rest of the regular season, per Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com. With Hargrave sidelined, Jordan Elliott is set to serve as San Francisco's starting defensive tackle alongside Maliek Collins, though Elliot is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Patriots after injuring his foot during Thursday's…read more

Likely done for season
San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Hargrave is dealing with a partially torn right tricep and will likely miss the rest of the season, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Hargrave sustained the injury in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Rams, and though the team was initially optimistic that the issue was a minor one, further testing revealed a more serious concern that will likely require season-ending surgery. In the second season of a four-year, $84 million deal, Hargrave will represent a major loss for the San Francisco defensive front. After logging 44 tackles and seven sacks in his first season with the 49ers in 2023, Hargrave will end his 2024 campaign with…read more

Has triceps injury
Hargrave has a triceps injury after Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Rams, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Analysis: San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan said it might just be a contusion, per Branch. Hargrave recorded three tackles, including a sack, during the defeat. The defensive tackle made four stops across the 49ers' first two contests.

On field at training camp
Hargrave (thumb) was photographed practicing at the start of 49ers training camp.
Analysis: Hargrave appears fully recovered from the torn ligament in his left thumb that he dealt with down the stretch in 2023. The 31-year-old defensive tackle looks fully on track to reprise his starting role up front for San Francisco. In fantasy leagues that require starting DTs, Hargrave is in the mix as an IDP option, having tallied 44 tackles (25 solo), including 7.0 sacks, and two passes defensed across 16 regular-season appearances in 2023.

Underwhelms in blowout win
Hargrave recorded one total tackle in Sunday's 27-10 win over the Commanders.
Analysis: Hargrave had a lackluster performance in Week 17, logging just one tackle for the fourth time this season. The veteran defensive lineman has still been extremely productive in his first year with San Francisco, ranking second on the 49ers in both tackles for loss (eight) and sacks (7.0). His status for Week 18 could be up in the air with San Francisco already locking up the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs.

Limited listing
Hargrave (hamstring) was estimated as a limited participant in Wednesday's practice walk-through.
Analysis: Hargrave injured his hamstring Week 14 versus Seattle and sat out the following week versus Arizona. He was able to return to face Baltimore on Christmas Day, logging three tackles, including a sack, in the loss. His estimated limited participation Wednesday isn't all that concerning given that he logged a DNP/LP/LP progression last week, though it bears monitoring the extent to which he's able to practice during the remainder of Week 17 prep ahead of Sunday's matchup versus Washington.

Analysis: Hargrave is up to 7.0 sacks this season. The defensive tackle was on the field for 43 snaps (67 percent), and he also contributed on one special teams play (five percent). He will look to add to his sack total in Week 17 when the 49ers head to Washington to play the Commanders.

Cleared to play
Hargrave (hamstring) is active for Monday's matchup against the Ravens, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Hargrave was in danger of missing back-to-back contests after garnering a questionable designation, but he's been cleared to suit up and may see an increased role with Arik Armstead (foot) still sidelined. Questionable with hamstring injury
Hargrave (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Ravens, Cam Inman of The Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Hargrave could see his absence limited to one game. The 49ers will be without fellow defensive tackle Arik Armstead (foot), so both Javon Kinlaw and Kevin Givens would take on larger roles if Hargrave winds up sidelined or limited.

Hargrave (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's clash with the Cardinals, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Hargrave is dealing with a hamstring injury that kept him out of practice all week. As a result, he will miss his first game of the season. Hargrave (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Hargrave was sidelined after suffering the injury Sunday against the Seahawks. If he ultimately ends up missing, Javon Kinlaw and Kevin Givens will likely see increased opportunities.

Chance to play Week 15
Head coach Kyle Shanahan noted Monday that Hargrave (hamstring) may "have a chance" to practice in the week leading up the Week 15 contest against the Cardinals, Lindsey Pallares of the 49ers' official site reports.
Analysis: Hargrave had one tackle in Sunday's 28-16 win over the Seahawks before leaving with a hamstring injury and finished the game with one tackle. The 49ers were without Arik Armstead (foot/knee) for the game, so his and Hargrave's practice participation this week will be something to closely monitor. If one or both of the defensive tackles miss time, Kevin Givens and Javon Kinlaw are candidates to step into a starting role while Kalia Davis moves into a depth defensive tackle spot.

Continues impactful play
Hargrave racked up seven tackles (two solo), including 1.5 sacks, against the Seahawks in Thursday's 31-13 Week 12 win.
Analysis: Hargrave recorded a solo sack of Geno Smith in the second quarter and split a sack with Arik Armstead in the third. Hargrave's seven total stops were a season-high mark. The veteran defensive tackle had a bit of a lull when he went four weeks without a sack from Week 5 to Week 8, but since San Francisco's Week 9 bye Hargrave has posted 3.0 sacks across three games.

Dominant at Jacksonville
Hargrave recorded four tackles (three solo) including 1.5 sacks in Sunday's 34-3 win at the Jaguars.
Analysis: Hargrave made life very difficult for a middling Jacksonville interior offensive line in Week 10, having an even bigger impact on the game than his great box score would suggest. He's been plenty productive in his age-30 season, making him a rare example of a fantasy-relevant defensive tackle heading into a Week 11 matchup versus the Buccaneers.

Hargrave (knee) is good to go for Sunday's game in Jacksonville.

Signing with Niners
Hargrave and the 49ers reached an agreement Monday on a four-year, $84 million contract that includes $40 million guaranteed at signing, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Hargrave cashes in with a big contract for the second time in his career after piling up 161 tackles and 23 sacks in 48 regular-season appearances for Philadelphia the past three years. Once known primarily as a run-stuffer, Hargrave has become one of the top interior pass rushers in the NFL and now will be paid accordingly by a team that looks to have the best defensive line in the league.

Hargrave recorded eight tackles (four solo), including one sack, in Sunday's 20-10 loss to the Saints.
Analysis: Hargrave notched his 11th sack of the season when he brought down Saints quarterback Andy Dalton for a five-yard loss late in the first quarter. The seventh-year defensive tackle has also matched his previous career high for tackles with 35 through 16 games. Hargrave recorded three tackles (two solo), including two sacks, in Sunday's 25-20 victory versus the Bears.
Analysis: Hargrave and Eagles edge rushers Haason Reddick and Josh Sweat all posted two sacks of quarterback Justin Fields, as the team continued to abuse opposing quarterbacks. The defensive tackle now ranks second on the team in sacks this season between Reddick (12) and Sweat (9.5). This top-ranked group of pass rushers will look to keep up their run of dominance Week 16 versus Dallas.

Double-digit tackles in busy loss
Hargrave recorded 13 tackles (four solo), including one sack, during Sunday's 32-21 loss to the Commanders.
Analysis: Hargrave finished ahead of linebacker T.J. Edwards for a team high in tackles, as he played a season-high 66 defensive snaps with Philadelphia's defense on the field for much of this loss. The defensive tackle also increased his season sack total to seven, including six in the past three weeks. Hargrave recorded seven total tackles and three sacks in Thursday's 29-17 win over the Texans.
Analysis: Hargrave benefitted from game script, as two of his three sacks came in the fourth quarter with the Texans attempting to make a comeback. However, the Eagles have regularly held leads this season and Hargrave has been able to rack up five sacks combined across his last two games -- both of which have been double-digit margins of victory. Hargrave (toe) practiced in full Thursday.
Analysis: Hargrave sprained his toe in August, but his full participation during Thursday's session indicates the issue is a thing of the past. The 2016 third-round pick has displayed excellent reliability over the years, as he's played in 94 out of a possible 97 regular season games. He appeared in 16 of 17 games last year and racked up 63 tackles (27 solo), 7.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a pass defense. Hargrave recorded 63 tackles (27 solo), 7.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a pass defense across 16 games in 2021.
Analysis: Hargrave sat out the final game of the regular season because the Eagles already had clinched a playoff spot, but he still managed to record career-best marks in tackles and sacks during his second season in Philadelphia. Analysis: Both sacks came on fourth downs on successive drives in the fourth quarter as the Falcons were forced to go for it in order to try and claw their way back into the game. Hargrave has had a strong camp thus far and was one of the standouts of Thursday's preseason loss to the Steelers, Mike Kaye of NJ.com reports.
Analysis: Hargrave looked like a free-agent bust early last season but came on late to finish strong. This preseason, he's been disrupting both the run and the pass. Finishes 2020 with 4.5 sacks
Hargrave had 38 tackles (16 solo), 4.5 sacks, one defended pass and one fumble recovery across 15 games in 2020.
Analysis: Hargrave finished with 22 less total tackles that notched with the Steelers in 2019 while logging only a half-sack more, numbers which severely hampered his fantasy utility in IDP leagues. Hargrave (pectoral/hamstring) is ruled out for Sunday's contest against Washington.
Analysis: Hargrave wasn't able to practice in any capacity this week. His absence sets the stage for Hassan Ridgeway and Malik Jackson to handle additional reps against Washington during Sunday's divisional match.

Still not practicing
Hargrave (pectoral) was a nonparticipant in Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: Hargrave is still recovering from the pectoral injury he suffered in training camp, and Wednesday's injury report additionally lists him with a hamstring issue. If the starting defensive tackle isn't able to suit up Week 1 against Washington, Hassan Ridgeway and Malik Jackson will be on hand to take additional work.

Dealing with injury
Hargrave is expected to miss multiple weeks with a pectoral injury, Martin Frank of The Delaware News Journal reports.
Analysis: It's unclear how the 27-year-old suffered the injury, but Frank reluctantly added that he could be out for a significant amount of time. Hargrave improved year over year in each of the past four seasons with the Steelers before signing a three-year, $39 million contract with the Eagles, racking up 60 tackles, four sacks and a forced fumble in 16 games last season. At this point, it's unclear whether Hargrave will be healthy enough to appear in the 2020 opener on Sept. 13.

Inks three-year deal with Philly
Hargrave agreed to a three-year, $39 million contract with the Eagles on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: The 2016 third-round pick spent the first four seasons of his career in Pittsburgh, and he totaled 60 tackles, four sacks and one forced fumble in 16 games last year. The deal includes $26 million fully guaranteed as Hargrave is set to anchor Philadelphia's defensive line over the next few years.

Achieves personal best in tackles
Hargrave had five tackles (three solo) in Sunday's 28-10 loss to the Ravens.
Analysis: Hargrave finished the 2019 season with 60 tackles -- a new personal single-season high -- including four sacks in 16 games. He also had one forced fumble. Hargrave has been a consistent anchor of the defensive line, and the Steelers will need to decide whether the unrestricted free agent returns in 2020.

Sack in win over Browns
Hargrave recorded six tackles (three solo) and a sack across 48 defensive snaps in Sunday's win over the Browns.
Analysis: Hargrave now has 45 tackles and four sacks on the season, as the defensive tackle continues to play in about one-third of the team's defensive snaps. He'll look to keep applying pressure Sunday against the Cardinals, who have allowed the fifth-most sacks in the league this year.

Leads team in tackles
Hargrave totaled nine tackles (seven solo) in Pittsburgh's 21-7 loss to Cleveland on Thursday night.
Analysis: There was little to get excited about on defense as the Steelers failed to record a turnover for the first time since Week 1. Pittsburgh is still second best in the league in takeaways (27) and will look to get back on track in Week 12 against a Cincinnati team that has the fourth most turnovers in the league (18).

Ends sack drought
Hargrave had seven tackles (two solo) including a sack in Sunday's 17-12 win over the Rams.
Analysis: The sack was the first for Hargrave in the past four games, but with four sacks in eight games he is on pace to exceed his career-best 6.5 sacks in 2018. Overall, the Pittsburgh defense looked dominant and did not allow an offensive touchdown against the Rams. Pittsburgh faces a familiar opponent in Week 11 against division rival Cleveland. In the past 10 games between these two teams Pittsburgh owns a 9-0-1 record.
